Framing involves building the skeleton of your walls. One of the most important aspects of the project. Here many people think 2x4's are being strung together and stood up. But there are many high-end features that can be added such as coves for picture or art, backing for crown, trim or handing Televisions and more. most utilities are attached or flowing through the framing so details are important at this stage.
Most modern houses have drywall installed onto the ceilings and walls. The finishing of the drywall is when the space starts to look like a room. Its easier for most people to start envisioning the look and eventual feel of the room here.
Finish Carpentry adds the finishing touch. Your choice of trim, and doors are one of the final items you will choose to be attached to the walls and ceilings. Light, plumbing, entertainment come after the dusty work is complete. Before the electronics you must decide on the color of paint.
The beginning of any project begins with inspiration. Your inspiration may come in the form of a need for more living space, or a desire to create an atmosphere separate from the norm of the rest of the house.
In order to bring your ideas to reality floor plan drawings are needed. Drawing out the floor plan is not only a requirement for getting the permit, this step quantifies what is in your mind to paper. This is important for setting the correct expectation. You now know how big each room is in feet and inches, which allows you to plan furniture purchases, placement of art and other post construction items.
Once we have an idea of what the floor plan will be, it is important to secure the permit, and contact electricians, plumbers, and HVAC if necessary, so that the proper permit can be pulled for EACH respective trade. Each county requires that each trade pull their own permit. Beware if a contractor says they will do everything, it is not lawfully permitted in Maryland. When you have a remodel many of the new standards come into place. These standards are 9 time out of 10, related to safety.
Once all is in place work can began. Sometimes the framing will already have begun, while estimates for trades are coming in. At this point payments are being dispersed as project check points are being met according to the contract. Furniture and appliance if not readily in stock at a local store have been ordered and are on way to be installed once everything finish. Your Dream is becoming a reality.

Depending on the slop of your land, the basement may be a walk out. This does not change regulation on the need for an egress window, and size and placement standards.
Egress windows are not only for safety, but provide natural light which can save on energy bill with decrease electric use.
Subgrade egress windows need a window well. In this double egress window well, we are custom build a well, where for some application a metal window well will suffice. All wells must have ladder or stairs exist if the are a certain depth below grade.
An inside look shows that each room has it own window, that leads to a join window well. providing a lot of natural light, potential air flow if window is open, and a safety exit.
